“Together, we can make a difference when our communities need us most. Whether you’re an individual looking to help or a business wanting to give back, we welcome you to be part of our disaster response network.”
- Cameron Wiley, BCVOAD Board Chair
What is the Big Country VOAD?
BCVOAD is a membership-based association that brings together voluntary organizations that respond to disasters as a part of their overall mission. Our mission is to serve as a convening and supportive body for our membership, which is comprised of Texas organizations and local representatives of National organizations, all of whom adhere to the 4 Cs: Cooperation, Communication, Coordination, and Collaboration.
BCVOAD serves directly with local offices of emergency management, the Texas Division of Emergency Management, and is a member of the Texas VOAD.
Communication
Clear and open communication ensures that all groups involved share important updates, needs, and resources. This helps prevent misinformation and makes sure help reaches the right people.
Cooperation
Organizations come together as a team to support communities during and after disasters. By working side by side, we can provide faster and more effective relief.
Coordination
Effective disaster response requires planning. By organizing efforts, we avoid duplication, fill gaps in services, and ensure that supplies, volunteers, and aid are distributed efficiently.
Collaboration
No single organization can do it all. By combining our skills, resources, and expertise, we create stronger, more resilient communities that recover faster from disasters.
“I like the Big Country VOAD because it embodies what communities are meant to be—coming together to prepare for the unexpected and support one another in times of crisis. It’s a powerful network of individuals, businesses, non-profits, churches, and organizations working side by side to assist first responders and help communities recover after disaster strikes.“
- Marcus Wiley, United Way of Abilene, BCVOAD Staff Liaison
